Position Overview

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the first point of contact for patients, supporting their health routines and diagnostic needs with professionalism and care. This role is responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in all interactions. The PSR II creates a supportive atmosphere by skillfully explaining procedures, building trust with patients, and delivering safe, accurate specimen collection. This position may be based in a physician's office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs require.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Confidently perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties according to established procedures.
  • Verify patient demographics, signatures, and specimen labels post-collection to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and foster a positive image to patients, clients, colleagues, and the public.
  • Provide superior customer service by communicating clearly and respectfully with patients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Travel to and provide coverage across multiple locations as needed, sometimes with minimal notice.


Job Requirements

  • High-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as required.
  • Commitment to organizational policies, including dress code, health and safety standards, and guiding principles.
  • Reliable decision-making skills and sound judgment.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (as applicable).
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Keyboarding and data entry proficiency.
  • Ability to train or work at alternate locations depending on business needs.


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.


Work Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a patient service center preferred.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.


Additional Job Details

  • Position is not eligible for remote work.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (Eastern/Day shift).
  • Candidates must list their home city and commute time on their resume. Commute must be within 20-25 minutes of the work location.
  • Reliable transportation is required (rideshare, bus, or taxi are not considered reliable for this role).
  • Punctuality and consistent attendance are mandatory; excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in termination.
  • Rate of pay is based on years of direct phlebotomy experience (overlapping roles do not count twice).
  • Training location may vary based on trainer availability.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required.
