OverviewAre you ready to help shape the future of cloud computing? Join Azure Compute-the engine behind Microsoft's fastest-growing and most widely adopted cloud services. Azure Compute powers millions of virtual machines (VMs) that support enterprise-scale services such as Bing, Skype, and Structured Query Language (SQL), as well as massive multiplayer gaming sessions and high-performance computational workloads. As the backbone of Microsoft's cloud operating system, the Azure Compute team builds fault-tolerant distributed systems on top of commodity datacenter hardware. Our mission is to deliver seamless infrastructure where resources are elastic, highly available, and feel limitless to our customers. We are tackling challenges across multiple domains, including scaling clusters, increasing VM density, expanding container capabilities with Docker and Hyper-V Containers, and building next-generation microservices for compute service management. You will have the opportunity to contribute to architectural transformations that span Azure Compute, host operating systems, networking, and storage. Our team is focused on delivering breakthroughs in reliability and performance-optimizing deployment speeds, redesigning protocols, and applying algorithmic innovations to deliver compute instances in seconds. If you thrive in high-impact environments, bring strong technical depth, enjoy solving complex problems, and value cross-disciplinary collaboration, this is the place for you.Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
ResponsibilitiesWorks with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. | |
