Posting Summary |
The Dominguez-Bello Lab at Rutgers University invites applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our interdisciplinary team studying the role of microbial communities in health and disease. The successful candidate will work at the interface of bioinformatics, microbiome ecology, and metabolomics, contributing to both computational analyses and laboratory workflows. This position offers the opportunity to lead integrative projects, collaborate with national and international partners, and contribute to publications and grant development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct bioinformatic analyses of bacterial and fungal amplicon sequencing (16S, ITS) and shotgun metagenomic datasets.
- Integrate microbiome datasets with metabolomics and other omics data using advanced computational and statistical approaches.
- Develop, implement, and maintain reproducible analysis pipelines (QIIME2, R, Python, or equivalent).
- Perform DNA extractions, barcoding, and library preparation for amplicon, and prepare metagenomic sequencing.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of microbiologists, clinicians, and metabolomics specialists.
- Present findings in manuscripts, grant applications, and conferences.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as appropriate.
This is a grant funded position, continuation of employment in this position is contingent upon adequate grant funds. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in microbiome bioinformatics (amplicon and shotgun metagenomics).
- Proficiency in R, Python, or equivalent programming languages.
- Hands-on experience with DNA extraction and library preparation for next-generation sequencing.

- Records of peer-reviewed publications and excellent communication skills.

- Experience with HPC or cloud computing environments for large datasets.
