Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our Labor & Delivery team. Reporting directly to theChief PA and Division Director, the PA will play an integral role in the comprehensive care of obstetric patients. This includes evaluating and managing laboring patients, performing deliveries, supporting clinical decision-making, and participating in the education of students and residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Admit and evaluate patients presenting in labor or undergoing induction for maternal or fetal indications.
  • Develop and implement labor management plans in coordination with attending physicians.
  • Recognize obstetric emergencies and escalate care promptly.
  • Document patient progress and clinical updates throughout labor.
  • Interpret fetal monitoring (NSTs) and perform bedside ultrasounds.
  • Manage patients receiving Magnesium Sulfate therapy for tocolysis or preeclampsia, including documentation and provider communication.
  • Perform vaginal deliveries and complete delivery summaries and postpartum documentation.
  • Repair lacerations and perform/repair episiotomies.
  • Complete discharge summaries for patients admitted for prolonged monitoring or complications.
  • Obtain informed consent for procedures and treatments.
  • Assist in cesarean sections, especially on days when residents are in didactic sessions.
  • Initiate consults with other specialties when clinically indicated.
  • Order and interpret labs and imaging studies.
  • Participate in board sign-outs and care handoffs.
  • Document and communicate significant clinical events (e.g., postpartum hemorrhage, elevated blood pressure, intrapartum fever).
  • Write transfer and acceptance notes for patient handoffs.
  • Contribute to the training and supervision of PA students, medical students, residents, and PA residents.

Must commit to a minimum of 3-4 shifts per month

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current licensure and certification as a PA-C.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required; NRP preferred.
  • Minimum 1 years of obstetrics or women's health experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inpatient obstetric care and emergency management.
