Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Research Assistant for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Laboratory of Addiction Neuroscience at Rutgers
RWJMS (Busch Campus), under the direction of the Principal Investigator, is seeking a Research Assistant (per diem). The Research Assistant will conduct research examining the neuroscience underlying drug addiction. The Research Assistant will be trained to conduct drug self-administration in rats and assist with the maintenance of transgenic rat colonies. Ongoing research in the lab utilizes optogenetics and deep brain stimulation as well as biochemical and molecular techniques.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Maintains compliance with all REHS training requirement and policies as well as laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Performs assigned experiments, including rat behavioral assays, genotyping by PCR, and colony maintenance, with assistance and supervision of laboratory supervisors.
- Accurately records all data and experiments in a lab notebook and/or in data sheets.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in in a relevant science major such as biological sciences, psychology, neuroscience, or related science.

- The Research Assistant must be detail oriented and highly motivated individual.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Previous experience with rodents is preferred.
