Work Schedule: Fully Remote or Hybrid if Local - Buffalo, NY
Moog Industrial is seeking a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to be responsible for development of strategic sourcing plans including make vs buy inputs, Supplier identification and selection, negotiating and closing high value long term agreements, Supplier relationship management, Supplier partnership and development as well as general contractual supplier support for all IG sites and Business Units. The ability to effectively manage relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders throughout the process is critical. Your scope will include: New programs, existing programs and aftermarket programs throughout the entire lifecycle of proposal development, new product introduction, rate increase and mass production in order to meet quality, total cost, delivery and inventory goals. As a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will:
Develops and Leads Strategic Sourcing Plans Drives the creation and execution of strategic sourcing strategies across multiple commodity groups, aligning with business objectives and market dynamics. Supports Make vs. Buy Decisions Provides analysis and recommendations to inform IG's Make vs. Buy strategies, ensuring alignment with long-term operational and financial goals. Analyzes Global Market Trends Continuously monitors and evaluates global market conditions to identify risks, opportunities, and emerging trends that impact sourcing strategies. Manages Commodity Strategy Development Leads the formulation and execution of commodity-specific strategic plans to meet IG's evolving business requirements. Builds Strategic Supplier Partnerships Identifies, selects, and develops key supplier relationships to enhance capabilities and create competitive advantage. This includes defining investment needs for training, development, and potential long-term on-site supplier presence. Optimizes Supply Channels Develops and implements supply chain solutions that reduce lead times and inventory levels while improving quality, delivery performance, and total cost of ownership. Drives Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Leads supplier performance reviews and relationship management activities in collaboration with site-level Supply Chain teams. Negotiates and Manages Contracts Oversees contract and pricing negotiations, ensuring effective claim management and long-term value creation. Leads Strategic Sourcing Teams and Projects Provides leadership and direction to cross-functional sourcing teams, ensuring successful execution of strategic initiatives.
To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
Desired qualifications would include: Certification in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Program Management, additional education and a Master's Degree in Business, Engineering. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience (usually post education) in the field of manufacturing or engineering (preferably Automotive) Good negotiating skills, combined with knowledge of procurement and contractual law is preferred. Good communication/organizational skills, and be able to demonstrate an ability to understand complex Global business travel will be required to visit Moog internal sites and their suppliers - sometimes with short notice Requires strong analytical and creative problem solving abilities to understand and facilitate complex supply chain decision making Requires excellent working knowledge and understanding of contractual requirements, business systems and processes A good understanding of supply chain networks and linkage and flow Travel to other Moog locations and suppliers, when required (about 10-20%).
