Job Description

The Bags Value Stream Leader at Sealed Air holds a pivotal leadership position within our Simpsonville, SC plant, overseeing one of the company's top three most critical departments. Acting in a role similar to a Plant Manager, this leader has full ownership of safety, quality, delivery, and cost across three key production areas: extrusion, printing press, and bag making.



The successful candidate will lead a team of up to 350 employees, including production managers, process engineers, and frontline leaders, while driving continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. This highly visible role demands a strategic operations leader with strong manufacturing experience, a results-driven mindset, and the ability to foster a culture of engagement, retention, and operational excellence. With broad impact on plant performance, this position offers significant visibility and the opportunity to grow into broader plant leadership.



What You'll Be Doing



  • Lead and oversee the full bags value stream (extrusion, printing press, and bag making), managing up to 350 employees.
  • Serve as a key member of the plant leadership team, with accountability for safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Drive process improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to strengthen operational excellence and employee engagement.
  • Oversee engineering projects and capital investment decisions to maximize efficiency and business success.
  • Partner with production managers (GPLs), process engineers, and cross-functional teams to align priorities and achieve business goals.
  • Provide strategic direction, coaching, and development to direct reports while fostering accountability and team performance.
  • Represent the value stream in plant-wide initiatives and contribute to shaping the site's long-term strategy.
  • Travel up to 10%, primarily for business meetings and site visits as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • 8+ years of relevant manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage large teams, including multiple direct reports such as managers and engineers, overseeing several hundred employees.
  • Strong background in continuous improvement, with demonstrated success applying Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma to drive measurable results.
  • Results-oriented leader with a track record of improving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing; extrusion, packaging, automotive, or food industry experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to foster engagement and collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment, balancing long-term strategy with day-to-day leadership.
  • Green Belt Certification preferred.
