Job Summary
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for coordinating and optimizing production schedules to meet demand while ensuring efficient use of resources. This role involves collaboration with various departments to manage inventory levels, production capacities, and workflow processes to achieve production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Scheduling
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on demand forecasts and inventory levels.
- Adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in demand, resource availability, or production delays.
- Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels if raw materials, work in process, and finish goods to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials required for production.
- Collaboration with Departments
- Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and operations teams to align production plans with business objectives.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding production status, potential issues, and changes to schedules.
- Capacity Planning
- Analyze production capacities and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of products.
- Identify potential bottlenecks and work with the operations team to implement solutions.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Utilize ERP, Power BI and/or planning software to analyze production data and generate reports on performance metrics.
- Provide insights and recommendations to management based on data analysis.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the production planning function.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure that production processes comply with company policies and procedures, safety standards and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address any issues related to production quality.
- Training and Support
- Provide training and support to team members on production planning tools and processes.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and problem solving.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business administration or related field (Master's preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, or supply chain management.
- Experience in Aerospace, Energy or similar industry involved with manufacture and/or repair of highly engineered products.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI) and production planning software (e.g., ERP systems)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles.
Preferred Skills
- Certification in production and inventory management (APICS, CPIM, CSCP).
- Strong project management skills and experience.
- Green Belt or black belt certification.
Work Environment
- This position typically operates in a manufacturing or production environment, with some time spent in an office setting.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet production deadlines.
