Duties & Responsibilities

The SC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems to support a safe, compliant, and efficient healthcare environment. Key responsibilities include:



  • The SC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems to support a safe, compliant, and efficient healthcare environment. Key responsibilities include:
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and safety systems, escalating to licensed professionals when necessary.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and completing work orders within established timelines.
  • Conducting routine inspections of facility temperatures, comfort levels, and operational performance of critical systems.
  • Maintaining facility grounds, including mowing, trimming, snow/ice removal, and debris cleanup to ensure safe access for patients and staff.
  • Repairing and maintaining walls, floors, plumbing, and finishes to support safety and infection prevention.
  • Maintaining departmental and clinical equipment in safe working order through routine inspection and repair.
  • Handling freight items and ensuring prompt, accurate delivery to departments.
  • Maintaining facility vehicles with routine upkeep (oil changes, tire pressure, fluids, etc.).
  • Assisting with clinic and offsite facility equipment upkeep as assigned.
  • Conducting quarterly fire drills and maintaining documentation of inspections, repairs, and regulatory requirements


Position Type

This is a full-time, day shift position working 80 hours every two weeks.

Typical hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm with a 7th-weekend on-call rotation and holiday coverage.

Qualifications

Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minnesota Boilers License (required or ability to obtain within designated timeframe).
  • Valid driver's license


Ideal Candidate



  • Minimum of one year of mechanical repair experience (healthcare facility experience preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized work order systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (NFPA, OSHA, CMS, infection prevention).
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, communicate effectively, and adapt to urgent needs.
  • Collaborative, customer-service mindset with attention to safety and quality.
