Summary
Responsible for leading and contributing to cutting-edge research projects that advance medical knowledge and support the development of innovative healthcare technologies by designing, implementing, and optimizing experimental setups, as well as collaborating with researchers, physicians, and other interdisciplinary teams. No Essential Functions -Lead research projects, collaborating with principal investigators and research teams to define project objectives, milestones, and timelines. -Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and researchers involved in the projects. -Design, develop, and optimize experimental setups and devices that address specific research questions and support data collection and analysis. -Implement data acquisition systems and software for experimental data collection and analysis. -Collaborate with researchers to process and interpret data, applying statistical methods and engineering tools to draw meaningful conclusions. -Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and instruments. -Collaborate with physicians, researchers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate engineering solutions into medical research and healthcare applications. -Develop prototypes and conduct validation studies to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and safety of engineered systems and devices. The Senior Research Engineer will work within the fabrication team, which includes mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, imaging specialists, and micro/nanofabrication experts. Work will encompass the design, fabrication, and testing of medical devices, with a strong emphasis on novel drug delivery systems. This includes hands-on microfabrication, 3D printing (SLA and FDM), CNC milling, injection molding, laser micromachining, and other fabrication/testing methods. Responsibilities
Additional Senior Research Engineer Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications & Skills: Pursuing a research position post-graduation from a B.S or M.S., or equivalent in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field; 3-5 yearsof relevant experience. An ideal candidate will have a research background in biomedical engineering as well as hands-on experience/rapid prototyping skills, but training to gain further skills will be available.
