Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day.



The UC Department of Emergency Medicine features the oldest residency training program in the United States and was founded in 1970. The UC Department of Emergency Medicine has enjoyed a reputation of excellence in the field for over 50 years and continues to attract top medical students. Nationally recognized faculty are leaders in clinical teaching and research.



The Department of Emergency Medicine is currently seeking Faculty members with the following areas of expertise:



  • Associate Medical Director to support clinical operations, quality initiatives, and strategic planning at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
  • Assistant Program Director to assist the Residency program helping to shape curriculum, mentorship, and educational innovation.
  • Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship Director requires Board certification with Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography.
  • Ultrasound Faculty Member requires completion of an Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship and eligibility for a Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS).
  • FLEX ICU Faculty Member requires completion of a Critical Care Fellowship,Board eligibility or certification in Critical Care as well as competency in resuscitative TEE and advanced bedside echocardiography.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with hospital operations teams to optimize throughput, capacity management, and ED flow.
  • Mentor early-career faculty and trainees in academic scholarship, leadership development, and career advancement.
  • Disseminate knowledge through peer-reviewed publications, grant activity, and national presentations.
  • Participate in hospital committees, task forces, and systemwide initiatives that shape emergency and acute care delivery.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, program development, and philanthropic efforts to advance the mission of the department and the College of Medicine.

Minimum Requirements

  • MD/DO.
  • Ohio Medical License.
  • Completion of a four (4) year Emergency Medicine Residency.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Demonstrated interest and accomplishment in emergency medicine clinical patient care.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, chief residency training or similar accomplishments during residency training.
  • Demonstration of interest and accomplishment in bedside clinical teaching of medical students and residents (emergency medicine as well as other clinical services).
  • Academic productivity such as original research papers, abstracts, and chapters.
