Position Overview

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients visiting the facility for routine or specialized lab work. This position is responsible for collecting quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient comfort and confidence during the collection process. The PSR I upholds the highest standards of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality while maintaining a safe, organized, and patient-centered work environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen collection and processing duties for both forensic and clinical samples following established procedures
  • Accurately identify patients and label specimens to maintain traceability and prevent errors
  • Explain collection procedures clearly to patients and ensure a comfortable, professional experience
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional workspace compliant with all safety standards
  • Complete daily tasks accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
  • Maintain required documentation and specimen records with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills while representing the organization positively to patients, clients, and the public
  • Exhibit process excellence, attention to detail, and commitment to patient care standards


Job Requirements

  • Ability to produce accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and available to work scheduled shifts in full
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required
  • Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months of related experience required
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Customer service experience in a retail or healthcare setting preferred


Additional Job Details

  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM; rotating Saturdays, 6:30 AM - 11:30 AM
  • Work location: 100% onsite; not eligible for remote work
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required
  • Candidates must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the worksite and list home city and commute time on resume
  • Reliable personal transportation required (public or rideshare options not considered reliable)
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are mandatory; excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
