Maxar is seeking a Supervisor of Production Coordination, Ortho Operations. In this role, you will lead a geospatial team responsible for the end-to-end production of Maxar's imagery and mosaic products created from Maxar's best-in-class imagery. Your team will build foundational, global layers and dynamic real-time digital views of the Earth to serve a variety of critical customer workflows. This position is based in Westminster, CO with consistent presence in Longmont, and will report to the Senior Manager of Ortho Operations. The Supervisor of the Production Coordination team is the subject matter expert on GIS workflows, projects, products, specifications, system capabilities, and leads collaboration efforts for continuous improvement. Maxar is looking for a leader with the ability to drive operational efficiency and work strategically to prepare for future exciting products at scale.

A supervisor primarily acts as a connection between a manager and the employees, facilitating the execution of the mission plans and objectives. They oversee the day-to-day operations, ensure employees are productive, and handle tasks that may arise while following the manager's overall direction. The role requires a range of skills including geospatial understanding, raster production at scale, initiation of continuous improvements and efficiencies, strong communication, strategic thinking, financial awareness, mentorship, and the ability to communicate effectively up and down the organization while delivering results.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the team of Production Coordinators in Ortho Operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations. The supervisor of Production Coordination is responsible for the daily work and operations of the team.
  • Lead the strategy for the Production Coordination team through exceptional planning, organizational, and task-management abilities. Implement plans and objectives through translation of the manager's/company's goals into actionable plans for the team, while ensuring that employees understand their roles and responsibilities in achieving those objectives.
  • Deliver on quarterly/annual V2MOMs and ad-hoc production builds for fulfillment of geospatial products.
  • Excellent and effective communication with management must be proactive and continuous.
  • Excellent and effective communication with team members, cross-departmental staff, and leaders of all levels.
  • Coordinate the overall approach to [production coordination, order placement, and feasibilities, production, quality control and deliver] priorities, monitoring and regulating throughput, and fulfillment of ortho and mosaic products.
  • Work collaboratively with all supervisors within Ortho Operations.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Maxar for current and future operational and contractual requirements and ad-hoc ordering requests.
  • Manage the team through motivation, ensuring employees are engaged and productive. Enhance the team's performance with coaching of employees, providing guidance and support to develop their skills and abilities, and identify training needs and provide opportunities for professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance and ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Address employee conflicts, provide feedback, and offer support to help team members succeed.
  • Manage the department staffing and scheduling.
  • Manage hardware and software components of the team.

Minimum requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain U.S. government secret level clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, geospatial, business, or related field required. In lieu of a degree, four years ofgeospatial or leadership work experience is required.
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Adaptable to change in response to new information and feedback; Able to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on best available information
  • Familiarity with geospatial products and applications
  • Ability to build and execute departmental strategy
  • Minimum of 3 years in Operations or direct leadership experience

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience leading a team of individual contributors
  • Direct geospatial, remote sensing, or photogrammetry experience, and related programs and software
  • Direct experience with raster production at scale
  • Proactive approach in resolving challenges
  • High level of emotional intelligence and flexibility with diverse communication styles
  • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate at all levels of the organization, across departments, and with external partners
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workloads, and support time-sensitive requirements
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to present metrics in consumable formats, including dashboards, reports and data visualizations
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products, emphasis on Excel

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

* The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $76,000.00 - $127,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
