Senior HVAC Technician - Chiller Specialist - San Antonio, TX

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HVAC Technician with extensive expertise in commercial and industrial HVAC systems, specializing in chiller systems (air-cooled and water-cooled). The ideal candidate will provide advanced diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and installation services, while also serving as a mentor and technical resource for junior technicians.

• Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on a wide range of commercial HVAC systems, with a strong focus on chillers (centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating).

• Conduct start-up, commissioning, and performance testing of chiller systems and related equipment (cooling towers, pumps, variable frequency drives).

• Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, interpreting technical schematics and wiring diagrams.

• Maintain compliance with EPA regulations and proper handling of refrigerants.

• Lead complex service calls and serve as the subject matter expert for chiller-related projects.

• Train, mentor, and support junior HVAC technicians in advanced troubleshooting and safety practices.

• Provide accurate documentation of work performed, including service reports, time tracking, and parts used.

• Interface with customers to explain findings, recommend solutions, and ensure client satisfaction.

• Stay current with emerging HVAC technologies, control systems, and energy efficiency practices.

• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency service requests as needed.

• Minimum 7-10 years of progressive HVAC service experience, with at least 3 years of direct chiller system experience.
• EPA Universal Certification required. Manufacturer-specific chiller certifications (Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, etc.) preferred.

• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and control systems.

• Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Leadership abilities to guide and mentor junior technicians.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to work overtime and travel to customer sites as required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
