The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for providing HR administrative and technical support to the Good Hope and 87th Street facilities in accordance with company policies and procedures related to onboarding processes, learning and development, employee relations, recruiting, employee engagement activities, HRIS, benefits, leaves of absence, payroll, EHS, and other HR related duties as assigned.


This position serves as a backup for the Human Resources Business Partner and has a dotted line reporting to the Executive Director, Human Resources.


Essential Functions:


Administrative Support



  • Act as the first point of contact and responds to internal and external customers for all HR-related inquiries including but not limited to: company policies and procedures, benefit, payroll, entering and processing new hire, change and termination information, employment verifications, etc.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and perform periodic audits to ensure compliance. Ensure confidentiality and limited access according to procedure.
  • Manage facility locker process for new hires and terminations by assigning or cleaning out lockers.
  • Maintain employee information, security badge access information, and timeclock card information in the HRIS, security system, and EHS vending system for accuracy.
  • Prepare HR documents and reports as needed, such as termination letters, promotion/transfer letters, memos, etc.
  • Review and update company communication boards and TVs as needed
  • Respond to unemployment claims and coordinate participation at hearings with the appropriate personnel. Attend hearings as needed.
  • May assist in maintaining appropriate levels of office supplies based on departmental needs.


Time and Attendance



  • Review employee timesheets daily and make edits as needed to ensure accuracy for payroll.
  • Assist supervisors and employees in resolving timesheet issues.
  • Partner with the Temporary Staffing Agencies to resolve payroll and timesheet issues.
  • Partner with payroll to resolve time clock maintenance issues.
  • Manage the disciplinary attendance process from tracking attendance points through disciplinary action.


Staffing



  • Manage the temporary associate conversion process from application through hire.
  • Review general hourly job requisitions in the HRIS and assist with recruitment for open positions as needed.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to manage the internal job transfer/promotion process.
  • Partner with management and Temporary Staffing Agencies in maintaining appropriate staffing levels by communicating orders or cancellations.


Learning and Development



  • Coordinate with the Talent Acquisition and Operations team on onboarding new hourly manufacturing employees.
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation and ensure the accurate and timely completion of all required new hire paperwork, such as I-9.
  • May coordinate or conduct other HR-related trainings.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.


Employee Relations



  • Interpret company policies for employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Provide HR guidance to management as appropriate.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations and disciplinary issues as well as escalate to the HRBP as needed.
  • Partner with Temporary Staffing Agencies to resolve temporary associate concerns or issues.


Continuous Improvement



  • In partnership with subject matter experts, evolve HR processes and procedures and other company programs as needed.



What You Bring (Qualifications):



  • Bachelor's degree (B.A)
  • Two (2) + years of related experience in Human Resources.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for travel between HellermannTyton locations.
  • High level of organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required (good knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must have a high level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize
