Your role and responsibilities:

The HVACR Regional Application Engineer (RAE) is responsible for application engineering support of HVAC VFD sales. ABB is the market leader in HVAC VFDs and our RAEs are instrumental in maintaining that position. Our RAEs are well known as the best in the industry because they not only know the product (VFD), but they also understand HVAC equipment and systems.

Primary responsibilities include selection and proper application of VFDs, phone & on-site advanced technical/application support, channel partner support/training, writing application papers, creating/presenting technical webinars, and supporting Product Management and R&D by identifying future product needs. This position requires the unique ability to build strong relationships and provide differentiating technical expertise in the market.

The HVACR Regional Application Engineer supports Motion Drive Products and is based out of New Berlin, WI.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Assist HVAC channel partners with technical/application opportunities, Assist the Regional Sales Managers & OEM Team with technical sales support
  • Create application based VFD Technical Notes (white papers), Create presentation content related to HVAC VFDs and applications. Present webinars to a global audience
  • Perform in-person local, regional, and national presentations to engineers and end users, Perform harmonic calculations consistent with IEEE-519 recommendations and Use oscilloscopes and metering equipment in our state-of-the-art Application Engineering lab
  • Identify market requirements and specify needs to Product Management and Support R&D on various projects, such as new feature development
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, product seminars and trade shows, Participate in professional societies
  • Be well informed about current industry trends and being able to talk intelligently about the HVAC industry and the commercial bid process
  • Speak with knowledge regarding competitive VFD products and how ABB's solution compares, Develop positive relationships with channel partners, OEMs and ABB employees

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of sales, marketing, product marketing, engineering or service of VFDs or HVAC equipment (pumps, fans, air handlers, chillers, etc.)
  • Technical experience in HVAC pumping application preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal, to both internal and external technical, and non-technical personnel.
  • Experience with MS Office, CRM, ERP software programs.
  • This role requires travel up to 20% domestically in the United States. A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
