Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director of Talent Acquisition establishes and implements district-wide best practices in talent acquisition programs, assesses MCCCD's capabilities in attracting and selecting the right talent to meet current and future business needs, and establishes and measures hiring goals for the District Office. In connection with College and District leaders, provides guidance on staffing strategies, talent acquisition systems, continuous improvement, policies and processes. The Director of Talent Acquisition is also responsible for the day-to-day leadership and vision of the District's talent acquisition function by building and improving on operational recruitment processes.

To best serve our organization, this position requires a physical presence in the office, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs.

Essential Functions

20% - Leads and supports the Strategic Staffing team by setting clear expectations, giving regular feedback and coaching, and ensuring the team is properly staffed. Acts as a role model and holds both self and others accountable. Focuses on delivering an exceptional experience by making the best use of current tools and processes, while also finding ways to improve them.

20% - Develops and implements comprehensive talent acquisition strategies aligned with organizational goals and talent planning. Serves as the primary escalation point for candidates, hiring managers, and Local Human Resources regarding staffing processes and concerns.

20% - Manages relationships with College Human Resources and leadership; works collaboratively across the District to ensure consistent communication of the strategic staffing branding, messaging, policies, processes and programs; participates in system-wide councils and initiatives.

20% - Oversees and advises on various recruitment programs including on-boarding, pre-employment screening, pay placement and background screening processes. Develops training initiatives that support interviewing, talent acquisition best practices, system enhancement and other initiatives.

10% - Creates and maintains accurate reporting and metrics to support data-driven decisions. Regularly reviews and updates key metrics to drive continuous improvement. Introduces new processes, performance measures, and assessments to enhance overall business satisfaction.

10% - Responsible for conducting audits, addressing external audit concerns, and ensuring timely resolution of all audit findings.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) years of work experience performing talent acquisition, staffing, or recruitment responsibilities, which includes at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or management role.

An equivalent combination of the education and/or experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Two or more years serving on a talent acquisition team.
  2. Relevant industry certifications in HR from SHRM or a similar certifying organization.
  3. Talent Acquisition experience in higher education.
  4. Talent acquisition experience within MCCCD.


Special Working Conditions

Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
May be required to travel or be assigned to other MCCCD locations.
May be required to work evenings and weekends.
May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.
May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
This position requires a physical presence in the office with possible partial remote work depending on business needs.
