Job Description:

Manager, Software Engineering positions offered by Cox Automotive Corporate Services, LLC (Atlanta, GA). Manage the design and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure data infrastructure, including databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and applications processing this data. Manage the accessibility and usability of structured or unstructured data by analysts and other stakeholders for insight and analysis. Ensure the proper setup, maintenance, and optimization of applicable databases ensuring data quality, integrity, and performance. Partner with architecture stakeholders to ensure optimal architecture needed for proper solution delivery to stakeholders. Address challenges related to data processing, storage, and retrieval. Collaborate with partner technology, product, and business teams to align data engineering efforts with business goals. Oversee data engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support. Understand how each data engineer team member can effectively contribute to successful solution delivery. Manage technical aspects of data engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with organizational objectives. Effectively work with technology partners in monitoring system performance, issue troubleshooting, and data pipeline optimization. Collaborate with security teams and applicable stakeholders to properly protect data and ensure proper data compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Participate in evaluation and selection process for strategic vendor partnerships and effectively manage vendor teams to ensure data needs and solution delivery is met for stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Management Information Systems or a related field and 6 years of experience performing data engineering, including designing and managing data infrastructure.
  • Must have 6 years of experience in each of the following:
  • Building and maintaining software running in a CI/CD pipeline, including GitLab CI/CD and AWS CodePipeline, along with working with relational and NoSQL databases, including Amazon RDS SQL Server, Azure SQL Instances, and Amazon DynamoDB; and
  • Using application lifecycle methodologies.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 6 years of experience as stated, employer will accept a master's or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 4 years of experience as stated, or a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 1 year of experience as stated.
  • Must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:
  • Designing, developing, and implementing highly scalable, high volume software systems and components, client facing web applications, and major internet-oriented applications and systems;
  • Using database systems, ETL processes, and cloud platforms, including AWS Database Migration Service, Amazon RDS SQL Server, AWS Data Pipeline, and AWS Transfer for SFTP and Simple Storage Service;
  • Working with business intelligence tools and platforms; and
  • Instrumenting systems with observability with tools including PowerBI, Tableau, and Sisense.
  • Position reports to Atlanta, GA office. Telecommuting is permitted in accordance with company policy but must live within commuting distance of the stated office.
  • Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.


Compensation includes a base salary of $213,075. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave .
