Summary/Objective:

Responsible for safely and effectively fabricating, repairing, and maintaining production fixtures, carriers, and special projects at a pace that supports department goals. Responsible for adhering to LCI core values, safety guidelines, and lean initiatives. Required to request support, as necessary, from other Technicians and leadership. Position support operations and production first, when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lippert is looking to develop our team of experienced welders that can fit and fabricate.
  • Qualified candidates must have a commitment to teamwork and execution.
  • Performing the following duties under the Supervision of the area leader:
  • Weld metal components together with welding equipment to fabricate custom weld fixtures or repair products such as machine parts and plant weld fixtures.
  • The job requires a strong understanding of welding procedures and safety protocols
  • Being a creative thinker / designer, work accurately in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

  • May be subjected to outside conditions for a considerable amount of the day
  • May need to work from lifts and from ladders
  • May be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, noise, heat, cold, and wet

Qualifications:

  • Use a variety of welding techniques, primarily MIG welding
  • Operate welding equipment and power tools
  • Follow prints and specifications to ensure that products are welded correctly
  • Weld steel products such as beams, plates, rods, and other structural components
  • Inspect finished products to ensure that they meet quality standards

Essential Functions:

  • Experienced welders that can fit and fabricate
  • Able to safely perform tasks using hand tools and power tools
  • Must successfully complete LCI new hire safety training and refreshers
  • Must successfully pass the LCI OSHA approved forklift-training course
  • Must successfully complete LCI Lock Out Tag Out Training as required
  • Must successfully complete LCI lean training
  • Driver's license

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Must be reliable and prompt

  • Maintains a positive attitude and caring about people
  • Good housekeeping, implementing 3S culture
  • Communication skills, reading/writing
  • 2+ years of experience in welding, preferably in a steel manufacturing environment
  • Ability to interpret manuals, prints, and technical drawings
  • Ability to assist in the design of equipment or fixtures
  • Fork truck experience

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active - while performing this job the team member is regularly standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, reaching, handling, and climbing all day. The team member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

In addition, the team members may be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, noise, heat, cold, and wet work while performing job duties. This position requires Personal Protective Equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours of work and days are based upon the need to support operations and production. Some Saturdays will be mandatory.

Travel:

No travel will be required for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Computer 101
  • 2+ years of experience in welding, preferably in a steel manufacturing environment
  • Repair-Education/Experience Design
  • Previous experience with fabrication design preferred

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
