Job Title: Project Engineer Quality (Aerospace or Automotive)

Duration: Direct Hire

Location: Irvine, CA 92618

  • Shift: 1st
  • Pay rate range: $130k to $135k on w2 with full benefits + 12.5% bonus
  • Required: *Must have electronic exp.-to solve electronic mfg issues- soldering, circuit boards*


  • Customer facing.
  • SPC.
  • 6 sigma green belt (desired).
  • Aerospace or automotive exp in a regulated environment.
  • AS9145 standard- APQP PPAP.
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Job Description:
  • Ensures timely and efficient completion of detailed quality engineering project phases or major projects to achieve division quality objectives. Plans, schedules, and coordinates efforts of the quality engineering staff or acts as an individual researcher or functional expert on projects with significant customer and business impact.
  • Role & Responsibilities:
  • Develops project goals and objectives to complete complex or major quality engineering projects by reviewing quality performance trends, statistical plans, cost estimates, quality plans, and conferring with management. Ensures project meets schedule, cost results, and technical expectations through effective project leadership.
  • Determines quality engineering project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning staffing and resources, and reviewing bids from outside contractors.
  • Determines quality engineering project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates. Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design specifications, and plan or schedule changes, and recommending actions to achieve quality and customer service objectives. Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
  • Applies and leads continuous improvement and quality focused initiatives for critical areas of production.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts on-site quality surveys as requested by customers and various accrediting organizations (e.g. ISO9000). May plan and implement quality programs designed to improve supplier performance or productivity.
  • Interprets regulations, contracts, and company policy on areas applying to quality measures and standards. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, ensuring adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and materials for cost and quality impacts.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, reviewing publications, and/or participating in professional associations.
  • Acts as consultant to management on major matters. Establishes goals and objectives required to complete projects. Identifies mentoring needs. Trains and mentors less experienced employees. May provide leadership to others in department or to ad-hoc teams.


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical discipline. American Society for Quality certification desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations.
  • Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas to own areas of expertise.
  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems; use standard business software and graphics applications.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical policies and recommend changes to procedures.
