Another Source's client, Scripps College, is recruiting a Human Resources Generalist to join their team in Claremont, CA.

Summary of the Role

Reporting to the Assistant Director of HR, the Human Resources Generalist serves as a key partner in supporting staff and faculty across a broad range of human resources functions with a primary focus on recruiting support. The HR Generalist collaborates with managers to manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, applicant tracking, candidate sourcing & outreach, recruitment metrics, and onboarding processes. This role also supports the Office of Human Resources in general HR operations including, but not limited to, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training & development, and more.

What you will be doing:

Recruiting

    Manage the full cycle recruiting process, including candidate screening, scheduling interviews, completing reference checks, making offers, coordinating background checks, initiating onboarding, and relationship management with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Identify, source, and attract top talent utilizing creative sourcing techniques for both active and passive candidates.
  • Manage the applicant tracking system (Workday), in coordination with the Associate Director of HR, Workday Analyst, and Assistant Director of HR, and suggests improvements or better processes to the software.
  • Consult with legal counsel regarding legal matters, including job classifications, exemption status, candidate applications, background checks, etc.
  • In coordination with hiring managers, prepares all job descriptions and postings.
  • Research recruiting trends for attracting diverse talent and leverage data to provide data analytics that measure the effectiveness and ROI of associated efforts, including cost per hire, time to fill, diverse candidate pools, etc. Independently verifies data if necessary.
  • In partnership with Marketing and Communications, establishes recruiting materials to attract talent, including use of social media.
  • Utilize advanced technology resources to support recruiting, e.g. LinkedIn Recruiting, Predictive Index.
  • Extend offers of employment for candidates on behalf of the College.
  • Partner with the Business Affairs office regarding budgets for positions.
  • Use interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments when working with candidates regarding the recruiting process.
  • Assist hiring managers throughout recruiting process including preparing interview questions, formation of committees, and recruiting best practices.
  • Update and maintain HR recruiting webpage.
  • Work with HR and consortium colleagues to provide up-to-date benefits and compensation information to candidates.
  • Active and regular communication with HR team members to relay information affecting other operations, including employee relations, training & development, compensation, etc.

General HR Operations

  • Support the Assistant Director with HR operations on various human resources matters including employee relations, training & development programs, compensation, leaves of absence, and more.
  • Assist managers and employees by creating training and development plans for employees.
  • Assist HR team with leaves of absence management and workers' compensation claims.
  • In partnership with HR team members, develop orientation and onboarding program for all newly hired staff.
  • Serve as liaison and information resource for faculty and staff, consults with General Counsel and others on problems, and determines final resolution.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Active support for the College's Principles of Community and Institutional Values in the performance of job duties.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job.
  • Previous experience in Human Resource management and/or experience working recruiting. Previous experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Spanish-speaking candidate is preferred.
  • Detail oriented, case management skills, precise, highly organized, results driven and flexible.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience with sourcing strategies and tools to identify top talent for specialized positions and critical hard-to-fill positions.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and an understanding of information technology and database applications.
  • Experience working with an HRIS preferably Workday.
  • Working knowledge of employee benefits packages.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $28.00-$32.00. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, andtraining.
