HJF is seeking a Director, IT Operations to oversee key technological areas including Architecture, Data Technology, Innovation and Quality Engineering. The position will also be considered influential over other functions such as engineering that benefit from technology vision and roadmap. The main objective of this role is to lead, develop and execute a technology vision and roadmap to harmonize various platforms and solutions, address business demands, and to drive continuous innovation.

This position will be in support of the newly established USU Digital Transformation Integration Center (DTIC).

  • Lead, develop, and execute a technology vision and roadmap to harmonize platforms and solutions.
  • Scout and evaluate emerging technologies (AI, automation, cloud, IoT) to drive digital transformation.
  • Lead the IT Steering Committee and align priorities with the DTIC mission.
  • Provide insight to CIO and senior leadership on technology trends and architecture.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of enterprise systems (network, storage, servers, endpoints, services) ensuring reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage technical change management processes to update systems and applications while minimizing disruption.
  • Recommend and manage departmental budget for infrastructure and technology investments.
  • Lead and mentor IT staff, fostering a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous learning.
  • Direct authority over hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Model a strong service ethic and cultivate collaboration across technical teams.
  • Establish and maintain technical policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with information security requirements and operational risk management.
  • Coordinate across business, medical, and research stakeholders to align IT governance.
  • Serve as the primary technology leader supporting the Digital Transformation Integration Center (DTIC).
  • Ensure DTIC projects are supported with modern infrastructure, scalable platforms, and secure integration with military medical systems.
  • Act as a bridge between operational IT and research/innovation efforts.
  • May include budgetary responsibility to include plan/forecast, prepare, approve, monitor.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.


Supervisory Responsibilities



  • Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases; conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.



Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • More than 10 years experience required
  • 10 or more years of computer-related professional experience supporting information systems production environments with 6 or more years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Must possess an exceptional service ethic with demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.
  • Must have systems administrations skills with cloud based computing platforms.
  • Advanced skills in troubleshooting and problem solving, excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work and lead gracefully under pressure.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T3 Secret Security Clearance


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.


Compensation



  • The annual salary/hourly pay range for this position is $144,700-$200,000. Actual salary/hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
