Primary Purpose of Department |
The primary purposes of the centralized warehouse are receiving and redistributing goods to campus, warehousing inventory of commonly used items for campus consumption, managing the Surplus Property program, and verifying the annual fixed asset inventory. |
Primary Purpose of Position |
- Oversee Daily Operations: Manage the day-to-day functions of the Central Warehouse, ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficiently. This includes coordinating the receipt of items from various shippers, managing item storage and organization, and overseeing the timely redistribution of materials to departments across campus.
- Manage Staff: Provide leadership, training, and guidance to the warehouse team. This involves assigning daily job duties to optimize efficiency and ensuring staff are knowledgeable about all procedures and safety protocols.
- Surplus Program Management: Coordinate and manage the university's Surplus Property program, ensuring all items are handled and processed according to established policies.
- Inventory Management: Lead the verification of campus fixed assets inventory, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ensure Compliance: Uphold all State of North Carolina requirements and University policies related to warehouse operations, record keeping, and asset management.

Summary of Position Responsibilities |
This position oversees the daily operations of the Central Warehouse facility. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating the warehousing of items, receiving items from shippers as required, redistribution of materials to campus departments, coordinating the Surplus Property program, and verification of campus fixed assets inventory. The Manger is responsible for the training of Warehouse staff and assignment of daily job duties for efficient operations, along with ensuring proper record keeping and documentation of activities. This position requires someone that not only understands warehouse operations, but also is able to review the current procedures and recommend changes to build a more efficient operation. |
Minimum Education/Experience |
An Associate's Degree + two years of warehouse management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
