The ideal candidate will have: Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in installation and repair of fire sprinkler, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, and fire safety inspections, OR seven (7) years of industrial electrical/mechanical experience;
- Experience with special hazards systems (CO2 and Halon);
- Certifications and specialized trainings (preferred):
- Fire Safety Inspector 2 (preferred). Obtain Fire Safety Inspector Level 1 within 2 years;
- Completion of required General Physics (GPI) learnings and JPMs through Technician III progression level (or equivalent training if external);
- Valid Driver's License.

Alafaya Trail, Orlando, FL 32831 Please see below a complete Job description for this position Job Purpose: Responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, replacement and preventative maintenance of OUC's power plant fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and associated equipment. The Fire Protection Tech II classification is expected to hone and develop the mastery of their specialization, focusing on the fire protection systems of all OUC operated Power Plants. They are expected to be able to work independently on simple to moderate maintenance tasks. Fire Protection Tech II works with low voltages (up to 480VAC). Systems and equipment include but are not limited to: Pumps, compressors, piping, valves, associated auxiliary electrical/control system, etc. Primary Functions:
- Test and inspect fire alarm, sprinkler and suppression systems in coordination with OUC personnel and outside vendors;
- Troubleshoot fire alarm, sprinkler and suppression systems including problem identification, evaluation of alternative solutions and implementation of corrective action;
- Support installations and maintenance of fire alarm, sprinkler and suppression systems;
- Maintain proper inspection reports as per NFPA 72 and OUC common practices;
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures;
- Respond to both scheduled service and emergency calls as needed;
- Climb ladders and scaffolding as needed to extended heights to install and troubleshoot fire alarm, sprinkler and suppression systems;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements:
- Working knowledge of all, but not limited to the following:
- OSHA Safety practices and procedures (i.e. LOTO Practices, PPE, Vehicle Safety Policies, Fire Safety, Fall-arrest, and confined space protocols, etc.);
- Maintenance, installation, and repair of fire alarm, sprinkler, and suppression system;
- Interpretation and editing of relevant documents outlining the layout, configuration, and specifications of fire alarm, sprinkler, and suppression systems (i.e. Schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, etc.)
- Use of equipment to include Hand tools, Electrical testing equipment (i.e. voltmeter meggers, motor testers, resistance meters, etc.), rigging equipment, precision alignment tools, forklift, mobile crane, Aerial Lifts, measurement tools, etc.
- Familiarity with all, but not limited to the following:
- Preferred familiarity with software and technologies to include Eclipse [for LOTO procedures], JD Edwards Enterprise One (E1) [for TRs and PM work orders];
- Equipment (i.e., hand and powered tools, electrical testing equipment, etc.);
- Related industry, organizational and departmental regulatory guidelines, best practices, and procedures;
- Power Plant Operations (preferred);
- Installation and repair of all types of sprinkler and suppression systems and their associated components;
- Basics of electrical theory.
- Strong Problem solving, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to:
- Work with circuits from 24VDC to 480VAC;
- Learn and comply with OUC Safety practices and procedures (i.e. LOTO practices, PPE, Job Hazard Analysis, vehicle safety policies, fire safety procedures, fall-arrest, and confined spaces protocols, etc.);
- Work with little or no supervision;
- Be self-motivated to make decisions and correct issues found during inspections.
- Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages;
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).

Working Conditions: This job requires a willingness to work extended hours when required including nights, weekends, and holidays. This job requires working in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, confined spaces, excessive noise, chemicals, noxious fumes, vibration, extreme heat (non-weather), insects, and occasionally extreme weather conditions. This job involves the risk of electrical shock. Physical Requirements: This job includes constant or very frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, speaking fluent and understanding (English), typing, and detailed inspection/reading/editing. This job involves frequent lifting up to 40 lbs., and occasional lifting 50+ lbs., bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and/or digging, reaching over head, and kneeling/crawling.
