The general pay scale for this position at MOH is $$69,074.45 - $106,268.38 per year.The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Surgical RN role are multifaceted as the RN has navigation and procedural "hands-on" patient care duties.

  • Procedure/Clinical Roles
    • Assesses health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history, physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider.
    • Collects and records nursing assessment and interventions and provides education to patient/family.
    • Assists physician with exams and procedures.
    • Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician. RN faciliatates dose modifications of administered medications as appropriate by assessment. All medications must be administered ensuring the correct dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
    • Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
    • Ensures accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided by obtaining the pre-authorization of medications administered and written patient consent.
    • Maintains work environment and surgical equipment by following OSHA guidelines in relation to the handling of protentional cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen.
    • Promotes the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices through accurate documentation of nursing care within an EMR system.
  • Navigational Roles
    • Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart.
    • Facilitates and schedules consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
    • Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
    • Assist patients in locating available community resources.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience required with at least one year in outpatient clinic, ASC nursing, and/or oncology preferred
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. **Note: ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment
  • Must maintain continuing education requirements.
