WHAT TO EXPECT DAY-TO-DAY:

This person...



  • ...is a technical expert as part of a multi-discipline project team on projects in the Buildings, Energy, and Infrastructure group, in support of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, voice/data and specialty systems for facility types including healthcare; higher education; institutional; federal, state and local government; K-12 education & support; and other commercial/industrial facilities.
  • ...serves as the lead electrical engineer for projects producing design/construction drawings and specifications, acting as the Engineer of Record for the work they perform and by subordinates they supervise.
  • ...undertakes and directs evaluations within existing facilities of electrical equipment/power systems, lighting, fire alarm, voice/data and specialty systems in buildings and facilities, and prepares resulting assessments, design computations, analysis, and reports.
  • ...acts as the client interface for project electrical matters.
  • ...generates and oversees electrical design/construction drawings utilizing REVIT and AutoCAD software.
  • ...observes electrical construction progress and generates field observation reports.
  • ...is responsible for the completion of electrical design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • ...assists in the development of subordinate staff in electrical design best practices for buildings and facilities.
  • ...communicates and coordinates designs, writing of reports and correspondence with other discipline professionals, as well as representatives of the client organization to complete work efficiently.
  • ...stays current with local, state & federal design standards and regulations.
  • ...helps develop new work and clients related to electrical design services for healthcare; higher education; institutional; federal, state and local government; K-12 education & support; and other commercial/industrial facilities.


WHAT YOU NEED TO PERFORM IN THE ROLE:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering -OR-- Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Engineering with electrical focus, from an ABET-accredited university.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of documented applicable experience working on facilities for healthcare; higher education; institutional; federal, state, and local government; K-12 education & support; and other commercial/industrial facilities.
  • A current Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida, with a current NCEES record.
  • Resides in the greater Jacksonville Florida area, such as within one of the following counties: Duval, Nassau, St. Johns, Clay.
  • Ability to work in person a minimum of three (3) days weekly in the local office located in Central Duval County south of Downtown Jacksonville.
  • Ability to travel to project locations and client meetings throughout north, east and central Florida. Travel beyond this primary area may occasionally also be required.
  • Significant applicable experience using Autodesk REVIT. Additional experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software, as well as Bluebeam.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) commensurate with their years of experience.
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform typical field survey duties of existing facilities.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.
  • Pass a drug test.
