Job Summary

Medical services rendered by Physician Assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. In an emergency situation in which a delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or cause an immediate threat to life, and the patient's physician is not immediately available, the Physician Assistant can be solely responsible for the care of the patient.

The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes, and other institution settings.

In addition to the core skills listed here, PAs will request validation to perform department specific skills.

This is a four-day-per-week position, Rotation Schedule which includes day, evening, night and weekend shifts. The schedule consists of three (3) shifts of 9.5 hours and one (1) shift of 9.0 hours, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors/Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

Graduate of an AMA accredited Physician's Assistant program

Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA Certified)

Licenses from New York State Department of Education

Registered as a Physician's Assistant in New York State.

AHA BLS required

AHA - ACLS, ATLS & PALS Certification (or eligibility) within 1 year of hire.
