POSITION SUMMARY |
The Ingredient Handler provides support to the production process by safely and efficiently performing tasks including but not limited to preparing, handling, and transporting ingredients, components, and other materials used in creation of final product. This position reports to the Production Supervisor and may also receive guidance from other production personnel, maintenance, as well as other members of factory leadership. |
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS |
EDUCATION: |
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education
- Minimum 1 year related and verifiable work experience may be substituted for education

EXPERIENCE: |
- Similar experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
|
SKILLS: |
- Ability to read and comprehend
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to use and perform basic math functions to include but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
- Basic PC and tablet skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude (i.e., correct and safe use of wrenches, drivers, pliers, and lubrication techniques).
- Demonstrates functional knowledge/use of standard LOTO procedures/practices

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY |
- Work safely in a manufacturing environment by maintaining safety awareness, following guidelines, inspecting and properly using PPE, completing required safety training, performing risk predictions and other relevant techniques.
- Safely and properly use/operate tools and equipment including on/off operation, assemble/disassemble, clean, read and understand menu prompts/displays.
- Communicate all safety, quality, and operational issues in a timely manner to Supervisor and/or Line Lead to avoid accidents, defective product, or unnecessary downtime.
- Know, understand, and follow factory management systems for human safety, food safety and/or environmental management.
- Set-up area with necessary equipment following standards and report abnormal conditions to the Supervisor and/or Line Lead.
- Double check commodity codes of all ingredients before using to ensure correct ingredients are being used.
- Complete paperwork legibly, accurately and in a timely manner (including any required HACCP paperwork and ensure that paperwork is delivered to the prescribed location at shifts end).
- Check all scales used to ensure proper function and calibration before use.
- Maintain all areas with regards to housekeeping, GMPs, and safety.
- Inspect area at shift's end and ensure that area is left neat and orderly.
- Thoroughly clean and return all utensils and/or tools to their proper location at shift's end.
- Ensure that all batches are legibly and properly labeled with all required information.
- Ensure that all ingredients are properly covered and removed from areas at wash downs.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow team members and other departments.
- Know, understand, and follow factory rules, procedures, and/or practices.
- Participate in Nestle Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Lean activities
- Complete required training including ilearns, OJT, classroom, or other delivery methods that foster continued human development.
- Safely and efficiently operate hoses ensuring electrical panels, boxes, touch screens or other electrical devices have been closed and are properly covered as well as ensuring all product has been removed from the area.
- Safely and correctly utilize chemicals for proper applications following standards, PPE requirements, and related documentation.
- All other duties and tasks including both essential and nonessential as assigned.
