TITLE: SR. 1 Mechanical Technician



POSITION OBJECTIVE: With a constant focus on safety first, support production and quality by ensuring reliable operation of mechanical and electrical equipment. The ideal candidate has had leadership experience, is technically sound, goal-oriented and an effective problem solver.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Experience:

    • 6 - 9 years' experience with electromechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment required (plastic films manufacturing preferred)
    • Possess experience with preventative maintenance software and maintenance tracking programs (CMMS)
    • Industrial experience with motors, gearboxes, pneumatics and rotating equipment is highly preferred


  • Education/Training:

    • Preferred Associates degree in electronics with an emphasis on PLC's, drives, AC/DC components or licensed Journeyman level; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience as determined by the manager
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent required


  • Skills/Knowledge:

    • Broad knowledge and troubleshooting capability
    • Knowledge of basic mathematics
    • Ability to understand blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications
    • Personal computer operation in a Windows environment (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email)
    • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
    • Must be able to effectively communicate with operators, management, and technical support services
    • Must have the ability to troubleshoot systems and complete preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance


  • Work Requirements:

    • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
    • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.





JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Independently troubleshoot all failures that are detectable at the IO level
  • Control downtime by communicating with operations and scheduling on routine preventive maintenance
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, documenting as per program designation
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by communicating with team and others about actions taken, irregularities and continuing needs
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Assist in the development of work procedures, LOTO requirements
  • Equipment calibration
  • Make recommendations for new/replacement equipment or modifications to existing equipment
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all work areas
  • Comply with all environmental, health, safety and security requirements
  • Inspecting, cleaning and recording of maintenance done on equipment and related parts
  • Dismantling devices to gain access and removing defective parts
  • Plan, check and lay out work, as well as recommending parts, supplies and equipment to be ordered
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager



WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:



  • Inside and outside environments apply
  • Manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures (cold and hot)
  • Proper PPE includes steel-toed boots, safety glasses and hearing protection
  • Other PPE may be required for specific jobs



OTHER INFORMATION:



  • Will be required to periodically work overtime and be on-call, including nights, weekends and holidays



TRAINING:



  • Train on day shift, but must be willing and flexible to transfer to night shift



MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:



  • Must have own basic hand tools
  • Specialized equipment and tools provided by Inteplast
  • Use basic and special purpose hand tools, leveling and monitoring instruments, and test/calibration equipment
  • Use hoists, cranes and material handling equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts (training provided by Inteplast)



PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:



  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, climb stairs and work at heights to access and maintain the equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
