General Summary of Position Job Summary: Provides guidance and support to Operating Room Technicians responsible for the appearance/cleanliness of the Washington Hospital Center Operating Rooms and Ancillary Support Areas. Includes performing the tasks associated with cleaning the Operating rooms and ancillary area including floor care maintenance. Primary Duties: * Provides guidance and support to operating room technicians responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of the operating rooms and ancillary support areas as determined by the Department. * Maintains current and accurate documentation of staffing and cleaning activities of the operating rooms and ancillary support areas according to department directives. * Performs cleaning and trash disposal of the Perioperative and surrounding areas, according to Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) guidelines, American Society of Peri-anesthesia Nurse (ASPAN), and WHC policies and procedures. * Cleans patient rooms. Includes but is not limited to emptying trash; wiping. down the bed, mattress, bed table, bedside stand, cabinets, television, window sill, and radiator; cleaning the bathroom (sink, mirror, counter, shower, shower curtain, commode, and walls); spot washing the walls; dry and wet mopping the floor; stocking the room with appropriate supplies (toilet paper, liquid soap, paper towels, cloth towels, wash cloth, bed sheets, pillow case(s), and spread); and when the room is empty, strips/makes the bed. . * Performs terminal cleaning with use of UV machine in OR's, patient rooms and public areas. Must be able to use pre-programmed electronic tablet for initiating timed UV cleaning cycles and data collection purposes. * Responsible for cleaning beds that are used for the transport of patients to OR. * Cleans other areas of nursing units and/or the public, medical, and office areas of the Washington Hospital Center. These areas include but are not limited to: nurses' stations; nursing unit: conference rooms, utility rooms, bathrooms (staff and public), showers, storage rooms, offices, kitchens, etc.; hospital entrances, waiting areas, corridors, public and staff rest rooms, staff locker rooms, offices, conference rooms, etc.; examination rooms, treatment rooms, and emergency rooms. * Pulling trash, high and low dusting (for the removal of supplies from shelves to dust, assistant will be requested for the removal and the put back of supplies), wiping exposed surfaces, replenishing appropriate supplies, dry and wet mopping, spot cleaning walls, and vacuuming. * Performs project work such as buffing, stripping and waxing floors; cleaning carpets; cleaning and changing mats; cleaning upholstered furniture; washing windows; washing and re-hanging cubical and window curtains and vertical blinds; scraping residual paint from fixtures/equipment; and moving equipment, furniture, supplies/boxes, etc. * Stocks cleaning cart and/or supply closet(s). May mix cleaning solutions from concentrated issue. * Reports deficiencies in patient rooms and throughout WHC to shift supervisor and/or facilitates management for action. Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED required. * A minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement. * 6 to 12 months experience required This position has a hiring range of $18.54 - $27.763 |
