Job Description

THIS POSITION IS RESIDENT IN OUR WHEATRIDGE, CO FACILITY AND WILL NEED TO BE WORKED ONSITE

Datacenter operations Engineer (DC-Ops Engineer) - WheatRidge Colorado

DDN is looking for motivated and passionate individuals that are self-motivated in their work and careers but we are valuing and thriving in an environment where collaboration and teamwork are at best. We are all together on a quest to provide game changing storage solutions.

Responsibilities:

    Deployment, configuration, and sustenance of servers, network switches/routers and storage in DC racks.
  • Monitoring critical aspects of the data center such as cooling, temperatures, power, voltages, etc.
  • Work with partner teams to retrofit, fix issues and help identify solutions for long term stability of data center operations.
  • Schedule and perform maintenance including upgrades, migrations, and managing the production networks.
  • Coordinate with IT teams to ensure a robust and secure access environment is enabled within the data center
  • Support development, testing and integration of new and existing Server/Storage hardware platforms.
  • Build and sustain a resilient virtual infrastructure using VMWare, Kubernetes and similar technologies and be able to manage networks using Cisco and/or Juniper network devices
  • Must be willing to work outside the normal work hours (including the night-shift) on rotation or as needed

Required background/skills:

  • 2+ years of related work experience responsible for deployment, configuration of Servers / Storage platforms in large Data Center environments
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Servers, Networks and Storage hardware platforms
  • Working knowledge of connectivity of Servers, Storage, network and Power supply, Battery Backup unit in large Data Center environments
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with hands-on experience with server hardware.
  • Experience with loading OS images as well as various software applications (e.g. Backup)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver against mission critical deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the Windows, Linux and VMware, Kubernetes based systems.
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced global team environments and solve problems with limited supervision.
  • Have a can-do attitude, willing to learn and grow with the evolving needs of the data center operations teams

Preferred (Nice to have):

  • Working knowledge of SAS, SATA, NVMe SSD devices and Multi Host NICs.
  • Experience with field-based work in Data Centers, Colocation Facilities, Internet Exchanges, or Central Offices.
  • Working knowledge of data center power and cooling infrastructure and critical facility operational best practices.
  • Some public and/or private cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure, Open stack)
  • Experience with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Perl)

  • Our goal is to finish the main process in 2-3 weeks at most.
