Job Summary

Shift Premium Amount: $2.00


Pay Rate: $25.90

Role Purpose

Perform a fairly wide variety of duties involved in flexographic press operations to print and meet established requirements using single, multi-color and process print processes.

Principal Accountabilities

* Work from work orders, schedules, and artwork, using established written or verbal instructions. Use common tools such as plate gauges, nut drivers, press check color computer, TRS meter, color cards, charts, rubber hammer, wrenches, screwdriver, pliers, fixed gauges, viscosity checker, densitometer, inks, step ladder, hand lift dolly, etc., and be able to operate computers/Baan. Operate overhead or machine mounted crane/hoist as needed.


* Review ISO work instructions using Lotus Notes and make or assist in proper sequential setup of ink, printing impression, tension, nip, feed, rewind rolls or cylinders and related drying, ink feed and other presswork arrangements and controls. Make adjustments and readjustments required for preliminary check and proof purposes. Check for registration, temperature, speeds, tension, ink flow, color match, viscosity and other conditions prescribed or special work consideration. Advise supervision of problems encountered or press malfunctions. Take corrective action as required or within limitation of assigned responsibilities to remedy trouble. Obtain approval as required prior to production run.


* Operate press in prescribed manner, monitor operation and make various checks and adjustments to maintain quality standards and production requirements. Maintain registration(s), proper inking, drying, feed, rewind, and other tension and speed or other operational variables. Make compensation and interrelated adjustments for proper operation as required. Advise appropriate supervision of in-process problems or conditions requiring action of others to avoid substandard quality, scrap or inadequate production.


* Move material, press rolls and supplies as required and perform press shut down operations and minor maintenance in prescribed and proper manner. Occasionally assist other press operators, setup or maintenance personnel as directed.


* Record time, production and test or engineering data or information required on proper form. Maintain assigned data, files and/or engineering information in proper manner. Maintain work, storage areas and equipment used in a clean and orderly condition. Observe all prescribed or standard safety rules and regulations.


* Record time, production, or other required information on proper form. Detect and report defective material, unusual conditions, or faulty equipment to appropriate supervision. Maintain press and supply storage area in a clean and orderly condition. Observe all prescribed or standard safety rules and regulations.


* Demonstrate ability to run each press with good efficiency, and the ability to run jobs at maximum speeds while maintaining good quality.


* Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

* Basic math skills required
* Ability to work from work orders, schedules, artwork, color cards, charts, procedures and instructions
* Knowledge of flexographic press operations, related equipment and minor maintenance
* Minimum 1 year of experience operating a flexographic printing press
* High school diploma plus 1 to 2 years specialized printing trade training
* Process print knowledge preferred
* Demonstrated good performance in current role
