Basic Function

To operate an extrusion line in a safe and orderly manner within Standard Operating Conditions. To manufacture a quality product in the most efficient manner possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Operate equipment to produce finished goods to production specifications.
* Understand and be able to safely STOP equipment during normal conditions and during an emergency.
* Set Machine up to SOC using the appropriate conditions
* Use a computer system to set run conditions and adjust as necessary within SOC
* Perform Line start up and Line shut down
* Understand and safely operate extruders
* Follow all training documents or standard operating procedures (SOP) to safely and efficiently operate the line
* Ability to use production reporting systems to fulfill job functions
* Always safely operate lab equipment
* Understand all quality lab equipment and be able to operate and adjust as necessary to safely test film samples.

Other Requirements

* Assist Process Engineer, Maintenance and Shift Supervisor in trouble shooting.
* Follow the production schedule as issued by production control.
* Maintain excellent housekeeping and recycling practices in your work area
* Complete all required computer and paperwork
* Participate in scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities
* Operation of motorized handling devices including Lift truck, walk behind, core extractors, and electric pallet jack
* Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Personal Food Safety (PFS): Beard/Hair Net, hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes. Also wear any additional safety PPE as required.

Qualifications

* Must be able to follow our safety guidelines.
* High School diploma or equivalency (required)
* Strong mechanical aptitude is desired.
* Measurement or gauging experience (preferred) or must successfully complete training on same and perform work effectively.
* Requires basic reading, writing and math skills.
* Must be able to read and comprehend English and correctly identify numbers.
* Must demonstrate good communication skills both personal and via Email
* Must demonstrate troubleshooting skills
* Must have good judgment with decision making in regards to Safety and Quality.
* Ability to complete production related documentation on both computer and paper forms (Excel, Word)
* Ability to work additional overtime if required to get the job tasks completed (required)
* Self-motivated and ability to make decisions and work well with minimal oversight
* 2-3 years of manufacturing equipment operation experience (preferred)
* At least one year of continuous service at a manufacturing facility (required).

Physical Activity Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is required to perform on up to a 12 hour shift to:
* stand - 70+%
* walk - 70+%
* sit - 10%
* reach overhead - 10%
* kneel - 10%
* bend - 30%
* climb stairs - 10%
* must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds overhead
to a height of 72 inches repeatedly over a 12-hour shift.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include average vision, color and depth perception.
