Job Summary / Overview

Provide quality control support to the project team and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results. Perform construction quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance activities.

Review design output documents in accordance with approved procedures in order to establishinspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages. Coordinate with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provide status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity. Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications and work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of inspections. Perform or direct the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers and other inspection personnel as assigned. Assist in resolution of code, specifications and drawing interpretations. Perform or supervise the performance of inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documents the results of the inspection activities. Assess the completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover. Review subcontractor's quality program for compliance to established procedures, attends mobilization meetings and monitors their activities for proper implementation. Review suppliers and/or subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance. Review, assess and status subcontractors' costs, manpower and materials. Approve subcontracts invoices and application for payment.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
• Practical field experience in civil (soils, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, protective coatings) quality control inspections.
• Ability to develop, review, and implement inspection plans in accordance with technical documents, codes and standards.
• Competency in reviewing and issuing non-conformance reports and coordinating corrective actions.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to foster a collaborative and safety-oriented work environment.
• Experience working under NQA-1 quality assurance programs at DOE facilities.
• Practical civil/structural field experience within the last 12 months.
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance.
• Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
• Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.

Education/Experience:

• A high school diploma and 10 - 14 years of practical experience OR an Associate's degree and 7 - 9 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent ORBachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 5 - 7 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas.
• Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities.
• Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas.

Desired Skills:

• Candidateswho have possessed anactiveDOE clearance (Lor Q) within the past two(2)yearsarepreferred.
• Current Civil Certification as Level II or Level III
• Previous Special Inspector Experience (i.e. ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector)
• Familiarity with AC308 adhesive anchor requirements and ESR reports
• Knowledge of concrete fresh properties test methods
• Additional certifications such as AWS CWI, ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector, and ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector
• Highly knowledgeable in ACI 318 and ACI 349

Work Location:

100% onsite, Aiken, SC. Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense.
