Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Sanitation Supervisor 3rd Shift to lead and provide operational support for all sanitation activities at our King's Mountain, NC manufacturing facility. The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating sanitation activities at assigned location. This role directly oversees the sanitor crew assigned to the plant, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards, food safety regulations, and company policies. The Sanitation Supervisor works closely with plant-level sanitation leads, production supervisors, and quality teams to ensure effective and efficient cleaning practices that support safe and high-quality production. Monday-Friday 10:00 pm - 6:30 am.

Candidates must be detail oriented, organized, reliable, and resourceful. The ability to manage projects, mechanical aptitude and the ability to build and develop high performing teams are required. Candidates should be familiar with working in a USDA regulated facility. This position will report directly to the Quality Manager.

Essential Functions:



  • Supervise, schedule, and direct daily sanitation activities within the assigned plant.
  • Ensure all cleaning tasks follow established SOPs, Master Sanitation Schedule, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and document sanitation work orders, activities, and hours in EAM (Enterprise Asset Management system) and/or RedZone.
  • Train sanitation team members on cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and proper documentation.
  • Support plant sanitation lead in updating and improving sanitation procedures and SWIs.
  • Inspect completed cleaning tasks to verify effectiveness and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Address and resolve routine sanitation issues, escalating complex matters to the Production Manager.
  • Communicate to USDA representative to resolve sanitation issues in USDA regulated areas.
  • Assist with onboarding and coaching of sanitation employees, providing feedback and reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Maintain adequate sanitation supplies and ensure safe use of chemicals and equipment.
  • Collaborate with various department supervisors to coordinate sanitation work around production schedules.
  • Support plant audits by ensuring sanitation records are accurate and up to date.
  • Fill in for sanitation crew when needed to ensure completion of cleaning tasks.
  • Maintain plant security during sanitation shifts by monitoring doors and restricted areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Remain flexible for work assignments and will put in the time necessary for job completion.
  • Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education

Associate's degree in related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Skills



  • Working knowledge of sanitation methods, cleaning procedures, and equipment (conveyors, packaging machinery, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively schedule and oversee daily cleaning activities.
  • Ability to train, coach, and motivate sanitation crew members.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and plant leadership.
  • Problem-solving skills to address sanitation challenges and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Capable of lifting up to 80 lbs. unassisted.



Certificates & Licenses



  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Ability to obtain high reach certification.
  • Ability to obtain chemical certification and become chemical certification trainer.

Education



  • Associates degree in business or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
