Position Overview: Credentialing Specialist

We're seeking a dedicated Credentialing Specialist to join our healthcare administration team. This essential role supports our network of mental health providers by managing the credentialing processes, ensuring compliance, and maintaining accurate files. You'll work collaboratively with our Senior Credentialing Specialist in a supportive, team-oriented environment.


Key Focus Areas:


  • Provider credentialing and re-credentialing
  • Healthcare compliance and documentation
  • Administrative support for mental health providers
  • Health plan coordination and communication


Essential Responsibilities

Credentialing Administration:


  • Process initial credentialing and re-credentialing applications for providers
  • Screen provider applications and verify supporting documentation for eligibility
  • Collect and validate information from credentialing databases and primary sources
  • Identify and resolve documentation discrepancies through systematic follow-up


Compliance & Documentation:


  • Maintain current provider files and track certification expiration dates
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations, policies, and credentialing standards
  • Capture and organize primary source documentation in computer databases
  • Monitor compliance with state and federal healthcare credentialing requirements


Communication & Support:


  • Respond to health plan provider inquiries and credentialing questions
  • Assist providers and colleagues with credentialing-related matters
  • Coordinate with external organizations and credentialing bodies
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders


Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ years of healthcare credentialing experience (medical or mental health)
  • Knowledge of medical/mental health credentialing procedures and standards


Technical Skills:


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Experience with healthcare databases and credentialing systems
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software
