Title: Senior Director, Technical Excellence

Location: Washington, DC or EGPAF Presence Country, Africa

Reports To: Vice President, Program Management & Technical Excellence

Classification: Full-time, exempt

The Senior Director, Technical Excellence provides leadership and strategic direction for EGPAF's technical agenda, with a focus on advancing maternal, child, and family-centered health programs that strengthen linkage to care and treatment. This role leads a team of technical experts, partners with program and business development colleagues, and represents the organization as a thought leader with donors, Ministries of Health, and other relevant stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a global team of technical specialists, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Lead the technical design of PMTCT and pediatric HIV interventions to eliminate vertical transmission and ensure children living with HIV are linked to treatment.
  • Establish and uphold organizational standards for technical excellence, evidence use, and quality assurance.
  • Strengthen systems for linkage, initiation, and retention in care across community and facility platforms.
  • Ensure technical quality and effectiveness in country programs, providing high-level guidance and support.
  • Serve as a technical lead in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities aligned with EGPAF's capabilities and strategic vision.
  • Work closely with the Business Development team to shape technical narratives, develop proposal strategies, and contribute to the design of competitive, high-quality applications for bilateral and multilateral donors.
  • Translate programmatic learning and institutional strengths into technical concepts and offerings that position EGPAF as a go-to partner
  • Support partner engagement, concept note development, technical writing, and pre-positioning efforts.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships that enhance the organization's technical credibility, visibility, and funding opportunities.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to align technical priorities with organizational growth.
  • Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and data analytics frameworks to measure impact and inform adaptive programming.
  • Disseminate findings through technical briefs, publications, and global health forums to influence broader practice.
  • Represent the organization as a senior technical leader with donors, multilateral agencies, and global technical working groups.
  • Provide technical input into national and international guidelines, policies, and health strategies.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MPH, MD, DrPH, or equivalent) in public health, medicine, health systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in global health, including significant technical expertise in maternal and child health, HIV/TB, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success in designing, scaling, and evaluating community mobilization and linkage-to-care models in diverse contexts.
  • Proven experience leading and managing global technical teams across multiple geographies.
  • Strong track record of influencing global health policy, contributing to technical guidance, and engaging with high-level stakeholders.
  • Experience working with major donors (CDC, U.S. State Department, Global Fund, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a range of staff in the US and Africa
  • Strong analytic and strategic thinking required.
  • Ability to travel internationally
