Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The primary purpose of the Office of Internal Audit and Management Advisory Services is to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the University's operations. It helps the University accomplish its strategic objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. |
Description of Work |
The primary purpose of this position is to perform financial, operational, compliance and investigative audits. This position also provides management advisory and consulting services to the University community with regard to risk management, control and governance processes. In addition, this position will assist the Chief Audit Officer in supporting and managing the day-to-day operations of the office, including oversight of audit engagements. |
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position |
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and
generally accepted auditing standards.
Ability to compile, monitor, and audit various financial, systems,
and/or program information for accuracy, integrity, and conformance
to rules and regulations.
Capable of maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
Ability to verbalize and write communications that convey concise
and comprehensive information |
Minimum Training and Experience |
Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration, or related field with (12) semester hours in accounting and 2-4 yrs auditing/accounting experience or Masters and 2 yrs auditing/accounting experience or an equivalent combination or education and experience. All degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution |
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation |

Management Preferences |
Master's degree preferred. Experience in internal or external auditing and either of the following certifications is preferred (Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Public Accountant, or other audit industry professional certification) |
