The Construction Inspector will support LAWA's civil construction inspection and work as a member of LAWA's Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA's Capital Improvement Program.
*Successfully hired Candidates must provide proof of Cal-OSHA 30-hour training within the last f our y ears prior to o?cial start. Professional Experience Level/Other Quali?cations Minimum 5 years of experience performing inspection of Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structure projects. Minimum 5 years of experience (10 years preferred) in public works ?eld inspection, with a focus on heavy civil and roadway construction. Proven expertise in the installation and inspection of sewer and storm drain systems, utility infrastructure, and tra?c control measures. Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles and Cal-Trans Standards. Ability to work e?ectively and communicate in a team-oriented environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Essential Job Duties Perform inspection of major reinforced concrete structures including pile foundations, roadways, and bridges across multiple jurisdictions. Conduct inspections for the installation of sanitary sewer systems and storm drains, including related structures, in accordance with City and County of Los Angeles Standards. Perform inspections for the installation of street lighting and tra?c signal systems, following the speci?cations set by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation. Apply extensive knowledge of City of Los Angeles Standard Plans/Speci?cations and the Standard Speci?cations for Public Works Construction (Greenbook). Apply extensive knowledge of Cal-Trans construction Standard Plans and Speci?cations. Ensure compliance with multi-phased, site-speci?c tra?c control plans, with a strong emphasis on pedestrian safety and routing. Apply knowledge of and enforce Cal-OSHA, Contractor's and LAWA safety requirements. Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly and concisely documents observed construction activities and identi?es issues, de?ciencies, and safety concerns in a timely manner. Assist in reviewing and approving Contractor's monthly progress payment request based on work completed and approved schedule of values. Collaborate professionally within a large team of Inspectors. Hardware/Software Knowledge Computer Pro?ciency - Utilize electronic equipment to review project plans and contract documents including RFIs, submittals, and change orders. Working and operational knowledge of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) used for inspection reporting and document control. Microsoft O?ce, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Pro, PM Web, Bluebeam, ProCore, etc.. Education/Training High school diploma (or equivalent). Current Cal-Trans test method certi?cations in 100, 200, 300, and 500 series desired. Current City of Los Angeles Deputy Inspector Licenses; Grading, Concrete, Post Tension desired. 30-hour Cal-OSHA training prior to assignment. The 30-hour training will have been received within the last 4 years.
