Description

The Bookkeeping Specialist is a detail-oriented problem-solver who provides stand-in and daily bookkeeping services, developed by Xtend Bookkeeping, to our credit union partners. They carefully and accurately maintain live credit union member accounts. This serves our organization's mission to protect our credit union members' finances and to protect them from liabilities. This position will encompass future services developed by Xtend that pertain to exception processing and general ledger balancing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. The Bookkeeping Specialist is responsible for completing daily procedures for our credit union clients while maintaining compliance with credit union policies and procedures; including, but not limited to, posting and balancing journal entries for ACH, Share Draft, Credit Cards, ATM, and Corporate Statements.
  2. Create and provide credit union staff with an end-of-day report daily to show the status of their general ledger accounts.
  3. Communicate with credit union staff regarding daily business transactions and operations through ZenDesk and email to obtain reports needed to complete bookkeeping services in a timely manner.
  4. Provide end-of-month services to credit unions; close general ledger for the month; create and provide credit unions with an end-of-month report and/or reconciliation packet.
  5. Provide as needed backup support for peer Bookkeeping Associates.
  6. Assist in coverage when Stand-In service is requested by credit unions.
  7. Perform extra balancing projects for credit unions approved by management.
  8. Perform tasks of Bookkeeping Associate for one credit union per quarter to maintain skill set for disaster recovery coverage.
  9. Complete annual training required for ACH processing.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School graduate or equivalent is required.
  2. Two-year degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  3. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  4. Ability to use discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential data.
  5. Must possess the ability to see and discern details at close range (typically within a few feet), necessary for tasks requiring visual precision.
  6. Excellent listening skills with the ability to accurately comprehend and follow verbal instructions.
  7. Proven written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on professionalism, clarity, and problem resolution. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform repetitive data entry and precise document handling tasks. Experience with CU*BASE is preferred.
  8. Demonstrated initiative in growing job knowledge, understanding credit union mortgage operations, and strengthening analytical skills.

Xtend operates in a professional office building setting. Some job assignments at Xtend are primarily conducted within the office building(s) while others have moderate to extensive travel responsibilities as described in the Job Functions and/or Job Qualifications section(s) above.
