Position Overview

The Sr. Technical Accountant is a technical and functional subject matter expert on the Technical Accounting team. Key role responsibilities include preparing the accounting assessments for a variety of complex areas including the accounting for contingent consideration, intangible assets, nonmarketable investments, and more. Additionally, responsibilities will include preparing analyses for non-recurring transactions related to treasury, M&A, licenses and more. This role will also assist with ad-hoc technical research, development of technical accounting presentations for stakeholders, and creating and maintaining accounting policies as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills and the ability to adapt to and interpret new situations with an attention to detail in order to reach the correct conclusions. The candidate will require strong written communication skills in order to summarize challenging technical accounting topics in a memo format. The role also requires strong verbal communication skills in order to lead meetings with Company Leadership.

  • Perform complex technical accounting research and prepare detailed accounting analysis to arrive at proposal of accounting treatment.

  • Articulate and defend complex accounting positions to stakeholders such as external auditors.

  • Identify accounting issues requiring resolution, review and interpret authoritative guidance, and offer proposed conclusion.

  • Prepare consultation responses to advise other accounting teams on complex ad-hoc topics.

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and account rollforwards related to complex technical accounting areas.

  • Prepare footnote disclosure support for 10-Qs and 10-K in areas of responsibility.

  • Support SOX internal control compliance by leading walkthroughs and maintaining key control support.

  • Able to use and understand stakeholder feedback, business objectives and priorities.

  • Able to work independently, as well as cross-functionally with teams across the organization to take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.

  • Has strong communication skills in order to participate and contribute in meetings with leadership.

  • Able to maintain an agile schedule and reprioritize work as new tasks arise.

  • Builds trust and relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.

  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to work normal schedule of Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.

  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting or in a corporate accounting role.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software Suite.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.

  • Understanding and ability to research US GAAP standards.

  • Experience with ASC 321, ASC 350, ASC 360, and ASC 805.

  • Life Sciences industry experience.

  • Public accounting experience - Big 4 preferred.

  • OneStream and SAP experience.

Salary Range:

$89,000.00 - $151,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
