Job Description

Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) is seeking an enthusiastic Associate Director of Doctoral Recruitment. Reporting to the Director of Graduate and International Admissions, the Associate Director will focus on achieving the ambitious doctoral student enrollment and retention goals set forth in the university's Strategic Plan. The Associate Director will assist faculty and academic leaders in each of S&T's colleges by providing centralized administrative support and university-wide coordination of doctoral student recruitment, admissions, and enrollment efforts. This position supports the prestigious Kummer I&E doctoral fellowship program and is expected to provide a high level of service to all aspects of the fellowship recruitment and enrollment cycle. The incumbent will provide prospective students with personalized attention through regular and meaningful interactions. The Associate Director works collaboratively with a variety of units and individuals to ensure that all aspects of the recruitment, admission, and enrollment process run smoothly for prospective doctoral students.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive doctoral recruitment plan in collaboration with the Director of Graduate and International Admissions
  • Lead recruitment strategies to attract high-quality doctoral applicants, including the Kummer I&E Doctoral Fellowship Program
  • Identify and pursue new recruitment opportunities, including establishing university partnerships (MoUs) domestically and internationally
  • Serve as the university's subject matter expert on doctoral recruitment policies, procedures, and best practices

Recruitment & Outreach

  • Plan and execute an ambitious travel schedule based on market and research
  • Represent the university at recruitment events, conferences, and virtual fairs both domestically and internationally
  • Create and manage virtual recruitment and yield events

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with Deans, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and faculty to align recruitment efforts with departmental goals
  • Partner with the Kummer doctoral selection committee to organize application materials and support the review process
  • Collaborate with the Kummer Director of Student Programs to ensure effective post-admit communication and onboarding
  • Liaise with the Alumni Office to leverage alumni for recruitment and networking events
  • Plan and coordinate a smooth orientation and onboarding experience for doctoral students

Marketing & Communications

  • Define and communicate the unique value of the S&T doctoral experience, including research highlights and student achievements
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive communications calendar for prospective and admitted doctoral students
  • Ensure all recruitment-related webpages are accurate, up-to-date, and optimized for engagement
  • Utilize social media to create and monitor effective recruitment campaigns
  • Work with Enrollment Management Communications staff to create structured communication campaigns throughout the enrollment funnel

Operations & Data Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all prospective doctoral students from inquiry through enrollment
  • Guide students through the application, admission, and enrollment process, including coordinating faculty connections and campus visits
  • Manage all doctoral student-related workflows and activities in Slate CRM
  • Collaborate with the systems and operations team to ensure data integrity and optimize CRM usage
  • Regularly assess recruitment efforts using data to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement
  • Execute and manage international joint agreements to support doctoral recruitment and onboarding
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Shift

Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree is preferred
  • A minimum of three years of experience in graduate recruitment and admissions within higher education, with a strong emphasis on domestic recruitment
  • Proven success in representing a university at graduate fairs and webinars to create and expand recruitment opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, evaluate, and enhance recruitment, enrollment, and marketing strategies using a data-driven approach
  • Experience with integrated marketing campaigns and social media to improve domestic student recruitment and enrollment
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak recruitment periods
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the year

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $59,738-$67,252 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
