Sr. Business Analyst needed for a Contract opportunity with SOC's client to work remotely. Quarterly travel to DC is required for this role.
Contract Length: 6 months, possibility to extend and/or convert to client FTE
Responsibilities:
- Establish relationships with business stakeholders that facilitates understanding of their data needs.
- Work with business users to collect and document requirements, writing user stories with acceptance criteria to provide clear guidance to development teams.
- Develop a deep understanding of business process workflows, operational systems, and organizational data
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between different stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of requirements, addressing questions or concerns.
- Analyze, prioritize, requirements to ensure they are clear, complete, and aligned with business objectives.
- Provide hands on support in working with the technical team to ensure development of data deliverables (e.g. dimensional and transactional data models, source target mapping, reports, dashboards, data extracts) in alignment with business needs and requirements.
- Communicate and coordinate delivery of developed reports and other data products, provide user training and support.
- Support testing activities, writing and reviewing test cases, ensuring test cases align with requirements, and verifying that the implemented solution meets the desired outcomes.
- Support data quality assurance, defining policies, standards, processes and procedures to ensure end to end data quality, and conducting tests and data audits.
- Support troubleshooting data issues (e.g. in reports, visualization, data extracts) as needed.
- Support reengineering efforts to transition workloads from the legacy Enterprise Data Warehouse to Azure Data Lake Platform.
- Actively support Agile DevOps process, including Program Increment planning.
- Actively engage in continuous learning to increase relevant skills.
Qualifications:
- At least a BS degree in Computer Science or related field and 8+ years experience
- 4+ years of proven experience supporting business analysis on a team supporting enterprise data warehousing using Microsoft data warehousing and reporting solutions.
- 4+ years of experience working directly with client stakeholders and business users on data needs analysis, requirements development, solution delivery, and user training.
- Proficiency elaborating and writing User Stories
- Experience in the development of transactional/dimensional data models, source-target mapping, and data transformations.
- Proficiency using Microsoft database, ETL/ELT, and business intelligence tools, including SQL Server (e.g. stored procedures), SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, (cubes), and Power BI
- Experience developing test cases and conducting tests.
- Experience utilizing SQL queries, and other languages to conduct data validation
- Proficiency with more than one of the follow scripting languages: SQL, T-SQL, Python, PySpark, PowerShell
- Understanding of cloud services such as Azure Data Lake Services, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Integration Runtime.
- Experience in Agile projects, working with a multi functional team.
- Must be detail oriented, and able to support multiple projects and tasks.
- Experience with configuration and version control, quality control.
- Open mindset, ability to quickly adapt new technologies to solve customer problems
- Demonstrate continuous learning to increase relevant skills.
- US Citizenship and ability to successfully obtain a government-issued Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on Federal government projects with at least Public Trust Clearance
- Experience working with data in the law, HR, financial management, inventory, property, and management domains
- Microsoft certification in Azure fundamentals, data engineering, AI, data analytics
