Job Summary
IT Application Architects provide architectural oversight for design and development of applications. Responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of the applications architecture across the system and providing technical guidance to the development teams. Define application architectures and recommends courses of action to ensure technology is consistent, usable, secure and adds value to the business. Serves the company as an advisor on best practices and stays current on business initiatives and objectives. Researches and evaluates new technology and development tools to remain abreast of current and emerging technology. IT Application Architects lead efforts, oversee work results, providing formal training and serve as a subject matter expert for development teams

Essential Functions


  • The essential functions listed represent the major duties of this role, additional duties may be assigned.
  • Accountable for adhering to enterprise architecture standards, ensuring integration technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization and contributing to architecture strategy-setting. Continually works to enhance breadth and depth of knowledge and experience. (10%)
  • Define project-level application architectures in line with business area guidelines and strategies. (40%)
  • Define detailed technical designs usable by project team programmers. Review code developed by Developers to ensure code is consistent with architecture design. Troubleshoots, recommends and executes action plans for issue resolution. (30%)
  • Selects and designs tools that allow reuse of design components and patterns between projects. Develops actual working solutions or prototypes based on their own designs and resolves any issues that arise. (10%)
  • Provide day-to-day technical direction to project team while also prioritizing and resolving technical issues affecting and deliverables, escalating technical issues when required. Facilitates project handoffs including preparing documentation, educating and supporting to ensure smooth transitions. (10%)



Qualifications

Required Work Experience
4+ years related work experience. Experience Details: IT development/programming/coding professional work experience

Required Management Experience
No supervisory/management experience required

Required Education
Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience IT related field

Additional Required Qualifications

Display technical leadership.

Proficient in multiple programming languages.

Proficiency using versioning tools.

Proficiency using debugging tools.

Proficiency using standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and flowcharting tools such as Visio.

Lifelong learner and practitioner of new technologies in alignment with IT strategies

Experience and understanding with unit testing, release procedures, coding, design and documentation protocol as well as change management procedures.

Practitioner of Project Management Methodologies (e.g. waterfall, iterative, agile discipline)

Knowledge in Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Delivery (CD) software engineering practices

Knowledge in defining extensible architectures that can be built by project team incrementally

Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Proficiency in creating architecture , green-field and redesign, and communicate the same to project team

Critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.

Demonstrated organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities.

Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance.

Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience applying current and emerging technology solutions and trends.

Ability to communicate highly complex technical information clearly and articulately for wide variety of audiences

Demonstrated ability to understand overall IT strategy and apply/implement IT strategy in assigned projects/initiatives.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Specific tools, languages and specialty skills may vary.
Relevant Development certifications.
Broad knowledge of application suite required to support business area needs

General Physical Demands
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.

    Annualized Salary Range: $116,500 - $189,300

    Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $116,500 - $145,600

    Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
