Position summary: The position is for a Sr. Project Manager for a task order, open end (IDIQ) contract supporting clients in the mid-Atlantic region and represents a leadership role within JMT's Aviation team The individual will be supported by JMT's national service line leader for Aviation, the regional leadership team within JMT's Maryland office along with a wide range of experienced technical staff members across multiple disciplines within JMT.

In this role, the individual will be responsible for managing a team of dedicated professionals to deliver project objectives for assigned tasks involving airside/airfield, landside/transportation, environmental/site development, and terminal facilities projects.



  • Leadership skills that will be used in the position include internal organizational engagement and staff mentoring, engagement with client leaders to achieve beneficial results for both JMT and the client, and industry wide engagement at conferences to showcase JMT strengths within the Aviation industry.
  • Management areas of expertise include technical writing associated with task level scope, schedule and budget development, team coordination and financial risk management, including adherence to JMT's ISO-9001 quality program.
  • Engineering expertise that is highly beneficial for this role includes airside and landside airport design of civil infrastructure (runways, taxiways and taxilanes, and RSA improvements) in accordance with FAA guidelines and circulars, aviation planning and airfield layout plan (ALP) development support. Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3.

Compensation for this position is $170,000.00- $200,000.00, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Essential functions and responsibilities



  • Managing a team of dedicated professionals to deliver project objectives for assigned tasks, while collaborating with disciplines and subconsultants to execute a risk adverse project scope and fee.
  • Assure that the project team is developing project specific documents in accordance with JMT's ISO-9001 quality management plan, including Project Management Plans, Quality Management Plans, project schedules.
  • Maintain ongoing communications throughout the project team, incorporating project status and ongoing issues to internal and external stakeholders, assure that the project team is monitoring and executing projects, including identifying and mitigating risks, developing extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals.
  • Build relationships with client(s) to understand preferences and requirements to develop and execute a quality project.
  • Providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of staff.

Required Skills

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Professional Engineer License and the ability to get registered in the states where clients are served within 3 months of employment
  • 15+ years of experience


Preferred Experience



  • CAPM or PMP
  • Experience in airside airport design of civil infrastructure (runways, taxiways and taxilanes, and RSA improvements) in accordance with FAA guidelines and circulars.
  • Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3


Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
