Aon's Capital Advisory group is seeking to hire Director - Aon Reinsurance Solutions!

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director in our Ratings Advisory team. Primary office locations include Chicago, NYC, Northern New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Remote workstyle is an option but depends on candidate qualifications.

The goal of the Capital Advisory group is to provide objective and tailored holistic advice on the capital supporting clients' business and how it can be optimized and be most efficiently utilized. The Ratings Advisory team provides customized support to clients for all their rating agency needs, including capital modeling, profitability analysis, peer benchmarking, and strategic positioning for the most optimal rating outcome.

What the day will look like

The role is client facing and the colleague will interact with both internal Aon Reinsurance client teams as well as clients directly. The role will be focused on Rating Advisory, where the colleague will be responsible for advising reinsurance clients through credit rating agency criteria and capital management strategies. Primary responsibilities include leading client relationships, applying credit rating agency criteria, evaluating the impact of reinsurance and other capital solutions on a client's financial statements and credit rating, and developing thought leadership research on behalf of clients. Colleague will be expected to work alongside other Capital Advisory functions, at times, such as Corporate Finance (M&A Advisory) and ReSolutions (Structured Reinsurance team), with the goal of growing client relationships.

The individual will work in a team environment on a variety of tasks, including:

  • Lead Client Relationships - lead account management strategy with respect to rating advisory for a portfolio of reinsurance clients, with extensive interaction with both reinsurance brokers and clients
  • Rating Agency Capital Modeling and Analysis - provide analytics and rating advisory using rating agency capital models and company's financial statements and forecasts
  • Synthesize Information and Make Recommendations - research and analyze data and client financials through the lens of rating agency criteria; proactively identifying alternative ideas and solutions to meet client goals
  • Rating Agency and Board-level objectives - develop presentations and recommendations by applying knowledge of rating agency methodologies
  • Industry Research - track (re)insurance industry trends and translate that information into insights that aid client recommendations
  • Special Projects - lead special projects and Thought Leadership content to further Aon's market presence
  • Work Across Capital Advisory Teams -collaborate with other capital advisory functions, including structured reinsurance solutions, corporate finance/investment banking, and capital markets transactions
  • People Development - mentor analysts, review work product at appropriate checkpoints to ensure accuracy and completeness
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry, with a focus on financial analysis and capital strategy.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret insurance company financial statements, including STAT and GAAP accounting, to support credit rating assessments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience using S&P Global Market Intelligence/SNL or BestLink tools preferred.
  • Strong track record in project management, with experience leading multiple concurrent client engagements under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial concepts to executive and board-level stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field; CFA or CPA designation (or progress toward one) is a plus.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position is $135,000 to $165,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted to reflect applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
