Clinical Instructional Assistant-Dentist

Perform as Instructional Assistant in Stark State College's on-site dental hygiene clinic.

Duties include:

• Being a faculty team member while students provide treatment to patients.
• Reviewing patient medical and dental histories.
• Administering local anesthesia as needed.
• Evaluating student performance using established clinic evaluation rubrics.
• Managing medical emergencies in the clinic.
• Attending semester training, calibration, and methodology workshops (approximately 3-6 hours/semester).
• Identifying the need for patient medical consultations and follow consultation processes.
• Performing oral examinations.
• Evaluating and assisting students with alginate impressions, dental sealants, and whitening.
• Other duties related to patient treatment.

Requires the following:

• Doctorate in Dentistry.
• Current License to practice dentistry in the State of Ohio.
• CPR Certification.

Prior teaching experience preferred.

Must have current knowledge of dentistry and working knowledge of computers software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet navigation.

Must be able to effectively communicate with multifaceted student populations and must possess critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
