As a Utility Automation Engineer you will provide engineering and technical support for the utility control systems in the Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing facility. Evaluate and develop technology, plan and implement modifications and upgrades, and provide technical support to those control systems.

Your Responsibilities:

Individual Contributions:

  • Participate in the design and installation of the utility control systems with a focus on Allen Bradley PLC, DeltaV and OPC communications between these systems.
  • Provide control system support for equipment used in the utility space, including high purity water generation and distribution, clean steam generation and distribution, parts washers and autoclaves.
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems with standalone and networked PLCs, control systems and the associated instrumentation and electrical components.
  • Manage changes on the Utility control systems. This includes the design of the changes, preparation of the supporting documentation and execution of testing.
  • Collaborate with vendors and consultants to define a detailed plans necessary to complete approved projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Interface with users, peers, and management to ensure appropriate input and integration of local and corporate standards.
  • Recommend options to resolve instrumentation and control systems problems.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Biology, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 1+ years of experience in design, programming, start-up, and troubleshooting of controls and instrumentation including Allen Bradley PLC.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Control System training and/or certification.
  • Educational background in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automation and Controls.
  • Knowledge in current standards of control system platforms preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of quality standards and validation of controlled areas preferred.
  • Knowledge in current standards for computer system validation and the quality standards used in GxP environments is preferred.
  • Ability to generate options, resolve problems, prioritize solutions, select optimal solutions, and implement decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact well with peers, subordinates, and senior personnel in multidisciplinary teams involving scientific, engineering, and operational disciplines
