Responsibilities

Responsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization. This position requires multi-tasking, computer skills, good oral and written communication and customer service etiquette. Function as a part of the team and keep everyone apprised of the authorization situation. Responsible for Agency's ability to bill and be paid for visits made by the field staff.

  • Answer telephones and provide excellent customer service to our professional staff and insurance representatives
  • Run and utilize computer reports regularly
  • Provide accurate, complete updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorization
  • Obtain and track authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization
  • Clearly document all authorization requests
  • Communicate with multiple disciplines
  • Notify Supervisor of problems in a timely manner and works to help provide solutions
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Excellent phone and customer service skills
  • Successful completion of LPN program
  • Possess current professional license in good standing and maintains
  • Experience in dealing with insurance companies
  • Computer skills to include word, data entry
  • Must follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must pay attention to detail
  • Use computer programs effectively
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
