As a Senior Engineer, II supporting mechanical design projects by tackling complex mechanical design tasks, refining components, conducting performance analyses, and troubleshooting. You will be expected to build effective and meaningful relationships with engineering teams and apply advanced modeling and simulation techniques In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Responsible for the design and development of next-generation intraocular lenses and delivery systems that will be implanted in millions of patients around the world

  • Works with (and potentially leads) cross-functional project teams to design and develop new products applying DfX principles

  • Assists with the establishment of product requirements, often by interacting directly with cataract surgeons to understand user needs

  • Generates new design concepts and designs experiments to optimize designs while managing complex trade-offs

  • Draft protocols and support the execution of design verification testing

  • Identify and troubleshoot technical failure modes and design risks, and propose solutions

  • Support lifecycle management of devices

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs.; Assoc.+6 yrs.; M.S.+0 yrs.)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

PREFERRED SKILS & EXPERIENCE:

  • CREO and/or SolidWorks Experience

  • Proficient in quick Prototyping and Modeling

  • Experience Using statistical tools like Minitab
